At Sir James Knott Nursery School and the Nest, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the best possible start in life. The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) provides additional funding to support children who may be at risk of falling behind in their learning and development.
We use EYPP funding in line with the evidence-based guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/early-years/pupil-premium , ensuring our approach is informed by what works to improve outcomes for disadvantaged children.
Following the EEF’s guidance, we adopt a balanced approach to using EYPP funding, focusing on:
1. Developing High-Quality Practice
High-quality early education has the greatest impact on improving outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged children.
2. Tailoring Personalised Support
The EEF emphasises the importance of responding to the individual needs of each child to maximise impact.
3. Leadership, Planning and Ongoing Review
An effective EYPP strategy is an ongoing process, not a one-off plan, and should evolve to meet children’s needs.
Our Commitment
Our use of EYPP is focused on:
The EYPP has one clear aim: to improve outcomes for disadvantaged children and ensure they flourish in the early years. We believe every child in unique, capable and full of potential, and EYPP helps us to provide the right support, at the right time, so that every child can succeed.
